Făgăraș Mountains
Bâlea Lake & bears – the Transfăgărășan premium tour
Private premium tour from Sibiu (Hermannstadt)
Up one of Europe's most spectacular roads to the glacial lake – and with a little luck, bears in the wild.
Experience one of Europe's most spectacular mountain roads – the Transfăgărășan – on a private premium tour from Sibiu (Hermannstadt) to Bâlea Lake. The route leads through alpine landscapes, dense forests and one of Romania's most wildlife-rich areas – with very good chances of seeing brown bears in the wild along the road.
The Transfăgărășan winds its way up beyond 2,000 metres – every bend a new panorama. At the top lies Bâlea Lake, a glacial lake between the highest peaks of the Southern Carpathians. We always watch the bears with respect and distance.
