Sibiu (Hermannstadt)
Sibiu (Hermannstadt) – in the footsteps of the Transylvanian Saxons
Guided old-town walking tour
The Great and Small Squares, the famous “eyes” in the rooftops and the Bridge of Lies – 800 years of Saxon history.
Sibiu – Hermannstadt in German – was for centuries the centre of the Transylvanian Saxons and remains one of Romania's most beautiful cities. It was European Capital of Culture in 2007. On this walk I show you the famous corners and the hidden ones – told by someone who is at home here.
We stroll across the Great and Small Squares, past the Brukenthal Palace and the Evangelical parish church, up to the Council Tower and across the Bridge of Lies. And of course the famous rooftop “eyes” watch you the whole way.
